Accessible Venice

The historic City of Venice has a network of pedestrian paths that are accessible to people with limited mobility and cover a distance of approximately 14 kilometres to reach different areas of the city. The historic centre of Venice is made up of 129 islands, that is internal parts of the city surrounded by water and connected by bridges.

More than half of the islands - as many as 66 - are now accessible for tourists with limited mobility. There are 46 islands that are accessible by public transport, thanks to the waterborne services and, in recent decades, another 20 islands have been made accessible by the Municipal Administration with the installation of ramps to aid crossing bridges.

Moreover, to facilitate the City’s accessibility, concessions have been arranged for people with limited mobility on AVM/Actv public transport.
