Saint Mark's Basilica
Saint Mark's Basilica is a unique monument, with an incomparably rich history and a truly magnificent façade and interiors, a splendid atelier for many of Italy and Europe’s great artists who worked here over the centuries.
Its distinctive Byzantine style shines brightly in the great mosaics that illustrate the life of St. Mark, as well as scenes from the Old and New Testaments.
Venice's greatness has always been reflected in the richness of the Basilica: it was adorned over the centuries by the Venetians who brought precious objects and works of art from distant lands, to create a monumentally compact architectural wonder.

Basilica della Salute
This 17th century church is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, and was built when Venice was delivered from the plague. It was begun by architect Baldassare Longhena who did not live to see it completed. The set of statues that decorate the façade create a beautiful effect as a whole, while the interior, with its octagonal plan, displays important paintings such as the altarpiece by Titian in the Sacristy.

The Basilica of Santi Giovanni and Paolo
The Basilica of Santi Giovanni e Paolo, otherwise known to the Venetians as San Zanipolo, is located in Sestiere Castello, being one of the biggest and most magnificent churches in town.
Considered as Venice’s Pantheon, the Basilica guards the monumental sepulchres of some -25- of the numerous Doges who ruled the city. Moreover, it is the burial place of distinguished characters of the Serenissima, as, among the most famous, Sebastiano Venier, winner of the Battle of Lepanto, and Marcantonio Bragadin, remembered as the hero of the siege of Famagusta in the island of Cyprus.
Through the centuries, many famed artists as Giovanni Bellini, Tiziano, Tintoretto, Palma il Vecchio, Palma il Giovane, Veronese and Vivarini, contribute to enrich the Basilica with their masterpieces as a venue of important State ceremonies of the Republic of Venice. Visitors may admire the beauty of some of their works, as Bellini’s Polittico of San Vicenzo Ferrer, Veronese’s frescoes, the Vivarini’s original Murano-glass stained window, a real one of a kind in whole Venice.
