Schola San Zaccaria

Schola San Zaccaria

The Schola San Zaccaria, dedicated to the arts and crafts, takes its name from the Campo San Zaccaria in Venice where it was founded in 1983 by the architect Gianfranco Missiaja, together with Maria Teresa Furlan.

The first painting dates back to 1961 and the Schola has always worked within the oldest Venetian tradition, producing works of art in the field of set design, the Commedia dell’Arte, original masks and the interpretation of Venice.

Its legal representative, Gianfranco Missiaja, was born in Venice in 1947. He studied at the Istituto Statale d’arte di Venezia, the Accademia di Belle Arti, and graduated in architecture with top marks. He has taught Drawing and Design for twenty-one years, heading a number of workshops.

We have been invited by numerous Italian Cultural Institutes to exhibit our works abroad, achieving success through participation in more than ninety international exhibitions worldwide. In 2021, Gianfranco Missiaja was invited to the Venice Biennale to exhibit a pictorial interpretation of the city published in the exhibition catalogue.
