Born in Venice in 1973, I have lived and worked in Murano, the island of glass, since then. In 1999, my father Bruno and his business partner Paolo Linzi handed over the running of the Bottega Artigiana Seguso & Linzi to me, established in 1954. Having approached this art for fun, I soon realised that the game was turning into a real passion, so much so that in 2006 “Matteo Seguso Incisore d’Arte su Vetro” was founded.

I am known for my artistic glass engraving performed on a wheel. I always try to transform glass objects into works of art.

In 2007, I began a collaboration with Lino Tagliapietra, a world-famous artist from Murano. He introduced me to international glass and another side of cold working, grinding and the “Battuto” technique.

I work with numerous important Murano furnaces, and with internationally renowned designers and artists. I also hold engraving courses in Italy, the USA and Australia. My works can be found in numerous private collections and museums all over the world.

I am always looking for new stimuli and challenges, because as I see it you discover and learn something new every day.
