The "Regatta (Palio) of the Ancient Maritime Republics" is a competition on eight-oared galleons among the crews of the cities of Amalfi, Genoa, Pisa and Venice. The event was born in the postwar period and is organized every year at the beginning of the summer by turns in the four cities (June 6th-7th 2015 is the turn of  Venice), combining a fascinating historical-cultural message with a spectacular competition. The regatta is always preceded by the solemn historical parade, famous for the precious costumes, that introduces the atmosphere of the competition.

The Serenissima's evocative dockyards will host the 2nd annual “Arsenal nights” during the 2015 Venetian Carnival.On the 7th, and 8th of February, and from the 12th to the 17th February, the Arsenal will be robed with magic, theatre, music and a sensational fireworks display on water giving everything a carnival atmosphere.Each evening from 7.00pm onwards, guests wearing the most beautiful and prized costumes will be received in a spectacular architectural setting with magnificent backdrops organized and mounted in collaboration with La Fenice Opera House .
