Health Care

In case of a medical emergency, the number 118 of the Medical Emergency Service is active for emergency requests. It is a nationwide number, available 24 hours a day and seven days a week. The call is free of charge from both fixed and mobile telephones.

In Italy 112 will be active soon, the single European emergency number, that will replace 118; when you dial 112 you can ask for the intervention of the police, Carabinieri (gendarmerie), fire brigade and medical emergency, also with the possibility of alerting the civil defence service and the local police. The system will offer assistance in several languages and for people with disabilities, as required by European directives.

It can be reached on foot in ten minutes from Rialto, by ACTV boat lines 4.1/4.2, 5.1/5.2 or by the Alilaguna B line, by taxi or ambulance.

Emergency tourist medical service

Only for holidaymakers, only in summer, from June 13 to September 15. Surgery and home visits every day from 8.30 to 13.30 and from 14.30 to 19.30. The surgery is in via Lisbona 1, Ca’ Vio–Cavallino, Venice. Contacts tel. 0039 041 5300874

Chemists

Chemists are open from 8.30 to 12.30 and from 16.00. to 20.00 from Monday to Friday, from 9.00 to 12.00 on Saturday. Timetables are on display on the entrance door, as well as the night service provided by an opening rotation system.chemist shops on duty in Venice
